When we arrive we walk down the entire beach line. This is done for safety as we can then see where the soft sand is and work around it. Also you often find drift wood and other debris brought in on the tide, so it is good to be aware of this so the horses don't run into it.
When we reach our turnaround point, after a paddle in the sea, we all set off together in trot or canter, following our tracks, so riders need to have control of their horse. “it’s not a free for all" you have to be safe. As people get more confident we can open it up with a few short gallops but remember we don't want the horses getting hurt, so please be aware of their welfare and the safety of the other riders and beach users.
Enjoying the beach ride is just as much about cantering for a few miles as it is caring for the horses that are also having fun.
Once we are all finished it is back to the horsebox where everyone un-tacks and cleans off their horse. They have a long drive home so they must be clean and comfortable.
